The upholstered item nobody thinks of as upholstery
Fabric bedheads went from occasional to standard, and most larger homes in Botanic Ridge now have two or three — usually in a pale linen-look weave, sometimes velvet, often a big padded panel running most of the wall behind the bed. What is the dark patch on my bedhead?

It appears on both sides of a double bed, which is why there is nothing clean nearby to notice it against – compare it to the back of the panel instead.
Can I clean the bedhead myself with spray and a cloth?
We would rather you did not – it is the most common way one gets ruined. Rubbing spreads the oil into a wider halo instead of lifting it, uneven dampness dries with a visible tide line, and on velvet the pressure crushes the pile into a permanently shaded patch. If something is spilled, blot it and leave it.

It is the manufacturer cleaning code, usually on a tag under a cushion or on the frame. W means water-based cleaning is safe, S means solvent only, WS means either, and X means suction only. S matters most – water on an S-coded fabric can leave a permanent ring even after it dries, and many of the textured weaves and velvets used on bedheads and feature chairs are S-coded.
