Do you have to take my curtains down to clean them?
In most cases no. We clean drapes on the rail using controlled moisture, so there is no taking down, no rehanging and no days with bare windows. Some heavily soiled or delicate curtains are better cleaned off site and we will tell you which applies before we start.
Will cleaning shrink my curtains?
Not with on-site cleaning. Shrinkage happens when lined or backed curtains are washed at home in a machine, because the lining and the face fabric shrink at different rates. Our method uses controlled moisture at low temperature so the drop stays the same.
Can carpet cleaning help with hay fever and allergies?
It helps, and it matters more in the leafy east where the pollen load indoors is higher. Carpet, curtains and mattresses are the three biggest reservoirs of pollen, dust and mite allergen in a house. Hot water extraction removes them rather than redistributing them the way a vacuum can.
Do you clean garden soil and bark out of carpet?
Yes. Fine soil and bark mulch settle at the base of the pile where a vacuum cannot reach, and they are abrasive, so they cut the fibre over time. Extraction flushes them out of the backing rather than lifting only the surface.
How do you price a large home with several living areas?
By the room, quoted as one fixed figure before we start. Tell us the number of rooms, stairs and any rugs or curtains and you will have the full price with nothing added on the day.
How long does carpet take to dry?
Usually two to four hours. We keep the moisture low during the clean itself and will tell you which windows and fans get it dry fastest. You can walk on it in socks straight away.
