Dinner in front of the TV leaves a different kind of mark.
Greasy food stains don’t respond to water — scrubbing spreads them. They need different treatment. From $40 a seat.

South Clean cleans couches, upholstery, curtains, mattresses and rugs across Mulgrave, Wheelers Hill and Glen Waverley — busy family homes where the lounge doubles as the dining room most nights.

Why the pizza mark won’t come out
Most spills on a sofa are water-based — juice, tea, soft drink — and they respond to water-based treatment. Food eaten on the couch is often the exception. Pizza, takeaway, chips, buttery popcorn and anything cooked in oil leave a stain that is at least partly oil, and oil and water don’t mix.
That’s why the usual approach fails. Dabbing at a greasy mark with a damp cloth doesn’t lift it, because the water can’t bind to the oil. Rubbing harder just pushes the oil sideways through the weave, so a small spot becomes a larger, fainter halo. And the oil that remains keeps attracting dry soil, which is why an old greasy patch slowly turns into a dark patch.
Three stain types, three treatments
Using one product on all of them is why home attempts disappoint.
Pizza, chips, butter, sauces, cosmetics. Needs a solvent-side treatment to break the oil before anything water-based will work.
Milk, egg, dairy. Reacts to heat — hot water cooks it into the fibre permanently. Cold water only.
Tea, coffee, red wine, juice. Water-soluble but dye-like, so speed matters far more than force.
Booked around a working week
Evenings and weekends are normal slots here at the same price as any other time, and everything is dry within two to four hours — so a Saturday morning booking has the lounge back in use by lunchtime. If it suits better, we can do the couch and dining chairs in one visit and the bedrooms another day.

Couch & upholstery cleaning Mulgrave — FAQs
Why won’t a greasy food stain come out of my couch?
Because it is at least partly oil, and oil and water do not mix. Dabbing at it with a damp cloth cannot lift it, and rubbing pushes the oil sideways through the weave so a small spot becomes a larger fainter halo. The oil that remains keeps attracting dry soil, which is why an old greasy patch slowly turns into a dark patch.
What should I do with a fresh greasy spill?
Lift the solids off first without pressing them in, then blot – do not rub – with a dry cloth to absorb what you can. Then stop, because adding water at that point spreads it. Tell us it is there and roughly what it was; knowing whether it is oil or protein genuinely changes what we use.
Do different stains need different treatments?
Yes, and using one product on all of them is why home attempts disappoint. Oil-based stains like pizza, chips and butter need a solvent-side treatment first. Protein stains like milk and egg react to heat, so hot water sets them permanently. Tannin stains like tea, coffee and red wine are water-soluble but dye-like, so speed matters more than force.
Can you come in the evening or on a weekend?
Yes, and at the same price as any other slot. Everything is dry within 2 to 4 hours, so a Saturday morning booking has the lounge back in use by lunchtime.
How much does couch cleaning cost in Mulgrave?
Upholstery is $40 per seat with a minimum call-out of $120. A three-seat sofa is priced as three seats, and modulars are priced by the seat however they are arranged. Booking carpet or curtains in the same visit costs less than separate call-outs.
I already tried a spot spray. Does that matter?
Yes, and it is worth telling us. Most spot sprays leave a sticky residue that attracts soil, so the treated patch ends up darker than the original mark. We rinse the residue out before treating the stain itself – but only if we know it is there.
Do you cover Wheelers Hill, Glen Waverley and Notting Hill?
Yes. We cover Mulgrave, Wheelers Hill, Glen Waverley, Clayton, Springvale and Notting Hill at the same rates – there is no travel surcharge between suburbs.
